Daily Life Simulacrum is the title of the exhibition I did during my residency in Phnom Penh at Sa Sa Art Projects in 2013. It is also the title of this album that I composed in 2015, using only the material from my residency period. My experience was one of art-life in Cambodia, I spent two months looking for collaborations with vibrant local artists, and exchanging with this incredible environment.

I traveled to Battambang, where I played at the Lotus Bar and Gallery, and also to Siem Reap, where I worked at the Art Hotel 1961. I visited the theater of the contemporary classical dance company Sophiline Arts Ensemble. I also went out with a friend I met several months earlier in Thailand, videomaker Jeremy Miles. He filmed a video with me around town. And last but not least, my brother Alec Schachner came from Saigon on a motorcycle for my final act, and we performed a piece together for the local audience at the White Building.

On this album, there are only echoes of that life experience. No sound here was designed for aesthetic purposes, but nothing was accidental either. Everything was meant to be, as it is. Nature is perfect and chaotic. This song is the manifestation of my passage to the White Building, and nothing more. Or maybe, this is my secret tribute to all the souls that have suffered in the past in this incredible country, a song of hope, from the spirits of the White Building to my soul, and then back to the trails. Body and soul as media. "
